Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information YourPooja collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to:

  • the website www.yourpooja.in,
  • the Pooja Services app for customers (Android), and
  • the Poojari app for pujaris (Android).

YourPooja is run by Pooja Services, Rain Tree Park, KPHB Phase 5, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, Telangana 500072, India ("we", "us"). For anything about your personal information, write to projectpooja5@gmail.com.

By creating an account or using our services you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the services.

1. Information we collect

If you book poojas or shop with us (customers)

  • Account details: your name, mobile number with country code, and email address if you give one. We send login codes to your mobile number (SMS) or email.
  • Addresses: the addresses where a pooja is to be performed or items delivered, including house/flat details, landmark and notes for the pujari, and the map point you choose.
  • Location: only while you are adding an address — when you tap "Use current location", or open the map to pick the point — the app reads your device's precise location once to fill in the address or centre the map. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Profile photo, if you add one.
  • Family and ritual details you choose to give: gotra, and family members' names, relation, and date, time and place of birth (used for nakshatra/rasi, sankalpa and reminders). Please add another person's details only if they are happy for you to do so.
  • Bookings and orders: the poojas you book, dates and times, sankalpa details, special requests, prices, shop orders, ratings and reviews you give, and your chats with the pujari assigned to your booking.
  • Payments: when you pay online, payment is handled by Razorpay. We receive the payment status, amount and Razorpay reference numbers. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank login details.
  • Support: problem reports and messages you send us, and notes our support team makes when helping you.
  • Device and usage information: a push-notification token for your device; your phone's make and model, Android version and app version, or your browser type; and, when you book on the website or use the account-deletion form, your IP address and the approximate city it belongs to (to help support and prevent misuse). Your language and notification preferences.

If you work with us as a pujari

  • Account details: name, mobile number with country code, email address if given.
  • Verification (KYC): photos of an identity proof and an address proof that you upload for our team to verify you, and your profile photo.
  • Service details: your home location (map point) and how far you travel, the languages you speak, your availability and leave days.
  • Work history: bookings offered to you, accepted, declined or completed, proposals you make, start codes and any start problems you raise, chats with customers, and ratings and reviews customers give you.
  • Device information: a push-notification token for your device, and your phone's make and model, Android version and app version.

What we do not collect

We do not access your contacts, SMS messages, call logs or files, we do not use the advertising ID, and our apps and website contain no advertising. The apps do not read your phone's IMEI or other hardware identifiers.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account and log you in with one-time codes.
  • To take bookings, find a nearby pujari who speaks your preferred language, and let the customer and the pujari coordinate (address, time, chat, start code).
  • To take payments, issue refunds and keep accounts.
  • To send notifications about your bookings, and reminders or announcements you have chosen to receive (you can turn optional ones off in the app).
  • To verify pujaris before they can receive bookings.
  • To provide customer support and to resolve disputes.
  • To keep our services safe, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix problems.
  • To understand, in summary form, how our services are used so we can improve them.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We process your information on the basis of your consent (which you can withdraw at any time, see section 7) and, where the law allows, for these legitimate uses.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

  • Between customers and pujaris. Pujaris who are offered your booking can see the pooja, date and time, the service address, any notes and sankalpa details, and your contact number. Once a pujari accepts, you and the pujari can see each other's name and phone number and can chat. Customers can see an assigned pujari's name, photo, phone number and average rating.
  • Service providers that work for us, only for the purposes above:
    • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications; Google Maps and Places in the apps for address search, maps and routes);
    • OpenStreetMap (map tiles and address lookup on the website; your browser contacts them directly);
    • Razorpay (online payments);
    • MSG91 (SMS login codes) and Zoho ZeptoMail or a similar email service (email login codes);
    • DigitalOcean (servers and database hosting) and Grafana Cloud (system logs, with phone numbers and email addresses masked).

    Some of these providers may process data outside India. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.

  • Our staff, with access limited by role (for example customer support or pujari verification).
  • When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply.

4. How we protect your information

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), stored on access-controlled servers, and visible to staff only as their role requires. Login uses one-time codes; session tokens expire. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly if something goes wrong.

5. How long we keep it

  • While your account is open, we keep your information to provide the services.
  • When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information (see section 6).
  • Booking, shop order and payment records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require (currently up to 8 years). When your account is deleted we keep them without your name, phone number, email, sankalpa details, notes or full address (only the city, state and PIN code remain). Some older account, booking and order reference numbers include the mobile number that was used when they were created; those reference numbers are kept as issued and are used only to link records for accounting.
  • Login codes are deleted after 30 days. System logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, normally no longer than 90 days.
  • Account deletion requests made on the website are kept until they are processed, and at most 90 days. After that only the last 4 digits of the number and the outcome are kept, as a record that the request was handled.

6. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time:

  • Customer app (Pooja Services): Profile → Delete account.
  • Pujari app (Poojari): Profile → Delete account.
  • Website: log in at www.yourpooja.in, open Profile → Delete account.
  • Without the app: request deletion at www.yourpooja.in/delete-account. To protect you, we will call the mobile number on the request to confirm it is you, and then delete the account within 30 days.

An account cannot be deleted while it has a booking that is still in progress (for example a booking that is upcoming, being searched, started, awaiting payment, or a refund that is still owed). The app tells you which bookings to cancel or wait for. Deletion from the app or website happens immediately.

What is deleted: your profile (name, phone number, email, photo), saved addresses, family details, favourites, reminders, notification history, chats, login sessions and device tokens. For pujaris also: identity and address proof documents, home location, languages and leave days. You will not receive further notifications, and a pujari's account will not receive further booking offers.

What is kept, without your personal details: booking, shop order and payment records (see section 5), and ratings and reviews (without your name). When a pujari deletes their account, customers still see their past bookings with that pujari, shown as "Pujari (account deleted)". After deletion you can sign up again with the same mobile number as a new account; nothing from the deleted account will be visible to it.

7. Your rights and choices

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you can:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and correct it (most of it you can edit in the app);
  • delete your account and personal information (section 6);
  • withdraw consent — for example turn off optional notifications in the app, or delete your account;
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity;
  • raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (section 10). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

To use these rights, write to projectpooja5@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first.

8. Children

Our services are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. Customers may include family members' details (including children) for a pooja's sankalpa; please do so only as a parent or guardian, or with the person's agreement.

9. Cookies and similar storage on the website

The website uses only essential cookies and browser storage to keep you logged in, remember your language and preferences, and hold your cart. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. When you use the map, your browser loads map images and address results from OpenStreetMap.

10. Contact and Grievance Officer

We will acknowledge grievances within 7 days and aim to resolve them within 30 days.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and for important changes we will tell you in the app or by notification before they take effect.
